About Me
Elisha Miller is a conductor and singer pursuing her Master's in Choral Conducting at the University of Michigan. Before returning to school, Elisha was active in the Washington DC area, bringing an infectious energy and artistic vision to all of her endeavors.
Elisha has embraced the baton with vigor. As an associate conductor of the National Children’s Chorus, she prepared students for performances at Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center. In 2022 they received a GRAMMY-Award for Best Choral Performance, and in 2023 they released their debut album titled “Illumine” in collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also led choirs in the public school system and received ratings of Superior at Music Performance Assessments. As a church music director, Elisha has led handbell choir, praise band, semi-professional choir, and fully volunteer choir. In addition to directing ensembles, Elisha finds joy in teaching privately as well. Some of her students’ successes include Florida All State Ensemble invitations and callbacks for Broadway International.
As a singer, Elisha has appeared as a soloist at the Kennedy Center with The Washington Chorus and with the Pensacola Civic Band as a headliner with the Boston Brass. She has sung as a chorister for the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic, and in 2026 will sing with the New York Philharmonic. She has portrayed the roles of Rosalinda from Die Fledermaus, Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire, and Monica in The Medium. In competition, Elisha won first place in the 2019 UWF Collaborative Piano Competition, and first place at the UWF Student Scholar Symposium Competition for her lecture recital on synesthesia. She has also been a semifinalist at the Southeast Regional National Association of Teachers of Singing. As a trumpet player and violist she has won scholarships performing the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto and Hoffmeister’s Concerto in D on viola.
Elisha is no stranger to the pit orchestra either. Under the stage, she has played trumpet in theatre productions such as Beauty and the Beast, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Crazy For You, Hello Dolly, Camelot, and more.
Behind the scenes, Elisha has excelled as a detail-oriented administrator. She has held the position of Program Coordinator at the International School of Music, Administrator at Blues Angel School of Music, and Executive Assistant of Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. Serving in these roles has given her exquisite communication, management skills and effective system-building.
As a composer, Elisha uses music as an avenue for spreading awareness for issues she is passionate about, such as civil rights and mental health. Under the tutelage of Dr. Joseph Spaniola, she composed music to Maya Angelou’s ““Caged Bird” from Shaker, Why Don’t You Sing? (copyright © 1983 by Maya Angelou. In 2020, Elisha graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in Vocal Performance. In 2019 she had the opportunity to study abroad in Ireland, performing in concerts and masterclasses all over the country, including the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
As a Master’s student at the University of Michigan, Elisha studies with Dr. Eugene Rogers. She serves as Associate Conductor of Orpheus Singers and Assistant Conductor of Michigan Youth Chamber Singers. She is a blog editor for The Excellence in Entrepreneurship, Career Empowerment & Leadership (EXCEL) Lab, writing on the most pressing issues we face in the performing arts world. She has an affinity for writing on leadership principles, with aspirations to become a thought leader in the industry. As she looks ahead to graduation in 2026 and beyond, she remains committed to using her voice on and off the podium to inspire and foster human connection through the power of music.
